Our Mission
Our mission is to provide an opportunity for girls, who intend to play at the high school level, to participate in an organized competitive basketball program for grades 5 through 8, against similarly organized teams. We will develop each player to engage in a competitive level of basketball. We believe in giving girls a firm foundation in the many individual and team skills required to be a strong basketball player.
Who is Eligible
All girls that live in High School District 121 are eligible to participate. We have teams for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade levels. Each girl interested in playing must attend the tryouts. Our objective is to challenge theability of the girls and to continue their personal growth.
History of the Program
The Warren Girls Feeder Program has been in existence for over 15 years. Many of the current and past Warren Township High school players have participated in this program. The program runs primarily on a volunteer basis with all positions supporting the betterment of the program. Fees are charged to cover practice gym time, game gym time, tournaments, referee fees, league, uniforms and equipment expenses necessary to run the program. While the program is based on WTHS attendance area, it is not a District 121 sponsored program, but rather a sponsored program with the Gurnee Park District.
Coaches
The Warren Township Feeder Program has a number of qualified volunteer coaches with years of experience in basketball and other youth programs. In addition to coaches, we have a number of support roles such as team parent, game scorer/time keepers, and statistics.
Games
The Warren Girls Feeder Basketball Program are members of the Northern Illinois Girls Feeder Basketball Association (NIGFBA). The league is comprised of approximately 26 programs that are required to have a 6th, 7th and 8th grade team. Only one feeder program per high school may participate in the league. Programs are located throughout Lake County and Northern Cook County. Players participate in gamesstarting in December and carrying through the end of March. The 6th – 8th grade teams will play approximately 25-30 league games and participate in tournaments.
